Hankook Tire Joins Hands with Wan Yu Rally Team
for Upcoming CRC Racing Season

Beijing China, 22 March 2007 – Hankook Tire and Wan Yu Rally Team jointly announced that Hankook Tire will supply the team with high-performance tension tires in the China Rally Championship 2007. Following strict pre-race tire testing, the two sides have decided to use Ventus R203 and Ventus R204 tires, two models of tension tires which perform extraordinarily well under tough road conditions, in the upcoming Shanghai section.
Since its entry into China’s market in 1996, Hankook Tire has dedicated itself to developing tires that meet the varied needs of consumers in the country, thus successfully becoming a trusted and favorite tire brand of Chinese consumers. Meanwhile, Hankook Tire has been paying close attention to China’s car racing events; it provided Wei Hao Rally Team with all tires needed for both racing and training purposes, helping the team to win the title of No.1 in the Zhuhai Section of the 2005 China Circuit Championship.
Wan Yu Rally Team has formidable strength and won the titles of No. 2 team and No. 3 racer of the year in the 2006 CRC N4 contests. It is expected that this team will perform splendidly this year’s racing events. Hankook Tire’s choice of this first-class team with tremendous potential reflects Hankook Tire’s corporate culture of pursuing excellence and its enthusiasm and support for China’s car racing events.
Mr Xu Yu, Hankook Tire manager of affairs related to China domestic racing events, remarked, “In view of the fact that tires for racing cars demand much more than tires for ordinary cars in term of technical performance, Hankook Tire actively participates in China’s car racing events with the aims to constantly challenge technical limits and further improve the performance of tires. Since the 1980s, Hankook Tire has been actively participating in car racing events in South Korea. Early in the l990s, Hankook switched its attention to international racing events in which competition was even fiercer. In 2007, Hankook will appear in various kinds of important international racing events including Japan Super GT, Nurburgring 24 Hour Racing, and US Formula D. Recently, Hankook Tire reached a stragegic partnership with the German Juergen Alzen Motorsport Team, along with a race car based on a Porsche Cayman, to take part in 24h race at Nuerburgring..
Wan Yu Rally Team
Wan Yu Automobile Sports Team was founded in 2004 and formally participated in the China Rally Championship one year later. Wan Yu Automobile Sports Club was founded on 7 August 2006 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province as a member of the Federation of Automobile. All the racing cars that Wan Yu Rally Team uses are refitted ones developed on its own. The team has in total ten specially-refitted racing cars, including seven Mitsubishi EVO9 and three Mitsubishi EVO8, and a number of famous racers including Fan Fan, Hua Qinxian, and David Higgins. The team won the titles of No. 2 team and No. 3 racer of the year in the 2006 CRCN4 contests.
China Rally Championship (CRC)
The FASC-sponsored China Rally Championship (CRC) is one of the top class car rallies in China. The first section of the championship for 2007 – the Shanghai Rally – will be held in Jinshan District, Shanghai from 23 to 25 March 2007. The route will cover about 430 kilometers, of which the racing section is about 118 kilometers in total with the rest being the driving section. The rally will be divided into ten racing sections, which will take place primarily on gravel and cement mixed road surfaces.
