Seoul, Korea, March 9, 2009 - Once again Hankook Tire’s technology and excellence for their ultra high performance tires have received the highest recommendation in comprehensive summer tire tests in Europe. This time Germany’s biggest automotive magazine “Auto Bild” (issue 10/2009) selected the Hankook Ventus Prime as one of three test winners from a field of 12 major brands, while automobile magazine 'Gute Fahrt' (Issue 3/09), the Hankook wide-base tire Ventus V12 evo, was issued with a purchase recommendation, a recommendation that was given to only four out of a total of eleven test candidates.
When selecting the overall best tires the Auto Bild testers set the highest value on each candidate’s ability to perform well in all tested criteria. The Hankook Ventus Prime once again proved to be the ost balanced performer in all levels and as a consequence was again able to reconfirm the Auto Bild result from spring 2006, when it received the magazine’s highest recommendation.
The Ventus Prime was able to convince the Auto Bild editors not only with its excellent driving when it comes to the safety and performance related test criteria like handling and braking, but also excellent in the comfort and environmental sector, providing both a quiet ride as well as low rolling resistance. Thus the tire is yet another excellent example of the application of the company’s own development concept Kontrol Technology*.
Hankook’s Ventus Prime had already won over the international automotive press in the past couple of years. “Excellent handling characteristics and superior braking ability on both wet and dry surfaces” steered it to first place for the automotive premium segment in a comparative test against 8 tires conducted by Germany’s most renowned automotive magazine “auto, motor und sport” (issue 7/2008). Using the tire dimension 17 inch (235/55 R17 W/Y) products from various manufacturers including all top tier brands were tested on a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. With a “notable gap”, the Hankook Ventus Prime - especially designed for comfortable driving to be used on cars up to the luxury segment - outclassed the whole competition. “auto, motor und sport” labeled this a “sensation”. The Ventus Prime was the only tire awarded the coveted rating “exceptionally recommended”. Obtaining first spot in four out of ten categories: Handling and braking on wet surfaces, traction, and lateral stability. “The new Ventus Prime literally claws itself to the surface,” the editor commented on the tire’s unparalleled traction behaviour. It also convinced testers with its neutral self-steering effect and precise steering reaction.
In addition to the oustanding success of Ventus Prime with the Auto Bild test results, Hankook Tire’s Ventus V12 evo has also received high recognition from renowned automobile magazine, Gut Fahrt, in their 2009 summer tire tests. After testing the popular 17inch (225/45 R17) on a VW Golf GTI test vehicle, the deciding criteria for the award went to the Ventus V12 evo fors its excellent braking properties - the best in the industry, as repeatedly confirmed by other specialist magazines - both in wet and dry conditions. The Ventus V12 evo not only received a purchase recommendation by the 'Gute Fahrt' testers, it was also awarded the title "attractive looking sport tire".
The current findings are not the first occasion on which the Ventus V12 evo has come out so well in a test: In Spring 2008 the "Auto Bild" tire testers declared (Issue 11/2008) that the new Hankook Tire ultra wide-base tire was the clear and unchallenged winner in the summer tire test. It was quite impressive how this tire reduced its competitors’ products to outperform, whether on dry or on wet road surfaces. The "harmonious, safe performance combined with such a sensitive response to steering under all weather conditions" convinced the testers and won the Ventus V12 evo the best recommendation, ‘exemplary’.
“Again our Ventus-line ultra high perfomance-tires have proven their outstanding quality among all top tier brands,” Mr. Seung Hwa Suh, Global CEO of Hankook Tire, commented on the new awards. “Hankook Tire’s indisputable development competence, especially in the ultra high performance-sector, will lead to further cutting-edge products for our sophisticated customers in future.”
"Our aim is to develop tires that offer our customers maximum quality, performance and, above all, safety, without any reduction in environmental compatibility, of course. This is precisely what our development of Kontrol Technology stands for. The excellent results achieved by the Ventus Prime and the Ventus V12 evo, as well as by our other Ultra High-Performance products in numerous independent tests by international specialist media over the past few years underline our company's claim to be the technological leader in the passenger car tire segment," added Mr. Suh.
