Hankook Tire’s High-Tech Lifestyle Magazine ‘MiU’ Recognized by Mercury Excellence Award

    Honored with Gold award at one of the world’s top 3 awards in corporate publications
    Recognized for its creativity and successful in communication with customers as high-tech lifestyle magazine 

March 1st, 2016 (Seoul, Korea) – Hankook Tire announced its magazine ‘MiU’ honored with the Gold award at Mercury Excellence Awards 2015/2016. Along with award-winning in Visual Contents Identity at iF Design Award, the Gold award at Mercury Excellence Award displays Hankook Tire’s innovative philosophy and competitiveness in design and communication. As ‘MiU’ is a winner of Auto/Car enthusiasts in Magazine-Design category of the award, being a candidate of the Grand Winner which announcement is expected on March 18th.

Hankook Tire’s award-winning high-tech lifestyle magazine published in 2013, ‘MiU’ is highly renowned for its creativity and effectiveness to deliver its message catering to audiences’ needs and interest. Under the concept of high-tech, MiU introduces unique and interesting high-technology contents including motorsports, tech-toy, architecture and fashion-item. MiU is the 12th letter of Greek alphabet as well as measurement of length representing one millionth, or 10−6.

Mercury Excellence Award is one of the world’s top 3 awards, founded in 1987 with the principal purpose of advancing the art and sciences of communications in an international arena. Along with ASTRID and ARC awards, Mercury Excellence Award called as ‘Oscar Award’ in public relations. The Award is held every year hosted by global media group MerComm in New York City, USA. Celebrating its 29th ceremony this year, it awards seven categories of Magazine, Publication, Interactive Media, Newsletters, Press Kits, Promotion, Publicity, and Video.

The Award’s evaluation is conducted by thorough and fair process. Each entry is evaluated three times by three different judging organizations. The three set of scores are then averaged into a single score for the individual entry. Awards are given to the top three scoring entries where only one Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honors award will be given in each classification. The Gold award winners automatically become candidates for Grand winners.

Hankook Tire received a silver award with its image calendar at the Award in 2008 as well. The calendar was acclaimed for its creativity and differentiator, which expressed the concept of ‘Driving Emotion’, Hankook Tire’s slogan, with calligraphy in Korean traditional ink with Hankook Tire’s symbolic pattern.
